Very young schoolgirl Valerie Anne Lawrence‘s first release!
This was all so long ago – Dick Rowe of Decca signed Valerie Anne Lawrence (birth name) after an appearance on Hughie Green’s ITV talent show Opportunity Knocks – and he had turned down the Beatles just two years before!
Well you can’t get everything right can you!!
Destined for academia, Valerie’s parents saw to the various contracts preventing her from touring and appearing on TV or radio shows until turned 21, which seemed light years ago at the time……. and was ….
During the intervening years she proved her parent’s right about academia and obtained a 1st Class Honours B.Sc while still not 21 and following it up with a Ph.D. four years later.
After 2 further years of Post Doc research, and a sprinkling of gigs Dr Valerie Anne returned to her roots of music and went back into the music business for real …….
